Obituary

Barbara J. Christopher (nee Hines), age 82, of Williamstown, NJ, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2024 at her home surrounded by family.  Born in Philadelphia, then raised in Upper Darby and Broomall, PA before marrying and moving to Williamstown in 1969.

Barbara was a graduate of West Catholic High School in West Philadelphia, Class of 1959.  Proud of her school, she enjoyed seeing old friends while attending her class reunions.  Following high school, she traveled for the first time at age 18 to Bermuda with her best friend. This sparked a love of travel and developed into a passion. During the next 30 years she worked a career as a travel agent.  In 1992 she bought and owned her own successful travel agency, The Action Travel Center in Hammonton, NJ.  She became well known in the South Jersey area for her expertise and took great pride in attention to detail.  She continued to work her passion for 25 more years while meticulously booking every detail of one's vacation until ultimately retiring at age 76.

She loved traveling with her girlfriends and family to destinations throughout the world, some of which included touring the Grand Canyon, St. Maarten, cruise trips and Ireland, all while creating adventures and memories along the way. Barbara wasn't afraid to speak her mind and was known for her generosity and sincere kindness to others.  She loved the summertime family adventures to Delaware with her dear friends, the Rutter family, and bringing the extended Christopher family in on vacations to Sea Isle City.  She was an avid reader of thousands of books, and loved her back deck and pool.

Beloved wife of 59 years to John A. Christopher.  Devoted mother of John Scott Christopher (Jennifer), Wendy Mahoney (Joe) and Jeff Christopher (Suzanne). Loving grandmother of Shannon, Joey, Tommy, Jason and Danny.  Beloved daughter to the late Raymond Hines and the late Margaret Hines-Deary.

Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Tuesday, July 30th from 10:00 – 11:30 am at the Farnelli Funeral Home, 504 N. Main Street, Williamstown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 noon at St. Mary's Church / Our Lady of Peace Parish, Williamstown.  Burial will follow in the Gloucester County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Williamstown.
