Obituary

Carl J. "Poppy" Underwood, 77, passed away peacefully on January 27, 2026, in Folsom, New Jersey. Born on September 4, 1948, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Carl lived a life filled with laughter, love, and unwavering devotion to his family and faith.

Carl was the beloved husband of Linda Underwood, with whom he shared countless cherished memories. He was a devoted father to Carl Underwood, Stephanie Underwood (John), Danielle Underwood, John Underwood and Amanda Underwood. His legacy continues through his grandchildren—Tristan Underwood (Jas), Michael (Nicolette) Klaitz, Leo Raebiger, Jessee Young, and Shawn Young—and great-grandchildren Sylas, Scarlette, Mia, and Sophie.

He is also remembered by his siblings: Robert (Kathy) Underwood, Michael (Harriette) Underwood, David (Joann) Underwood, and Diane Stickley. Carl was predeceased by his parents Thomas E. Underwood Sr. and Floreda Underwood; his brother Thomas E. Underwood Jr.; and his sister Bonnie Hunt (John).

Known affectionately as "Poppy," Carl had an infectious sense of humor that could light up any room. He was always the funniest guy around—quick with a joke or a playful remark that brought smiles to those he loved most. True to his word in his own unique way, Poppy always did what he said he would—even if it meant doing it tomorrow.

Carl found great joy in the outdoors. He loved hunting and fishing—pastimes that allowed him to connect with nature and spend meaningful time with those closest to him. But above all else, he treasured moments spent with his family. Whether gathered around the table or out enjoying the day together in Ocean City, Poppy's presence made every occasion special.

His deep faith in God was a guiding force throughout his life—a quiet strength that shaped how he lived and loved.

A private memorial service will be held for Poppy at a later date. The family will share details when they become available.

May Carl J. "Poppy" Underwood's memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved him.

We love you, Poppy. We miss you. You'll always be with us in everything we do. We'll take care of your BEAUTIFUL wife now. And, we won't kiss any girls. Until we meet again Poppy.
