Carmen Lydia
Gourgoulis
February 21, 1942 – October 25, 2024
Carmen Lydia Gourgoulis (nee Maldonado), age 82, of Williamstown, NJ, passed away peacefully on October 25, 2024, with her loving family by her side.
Born in Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico, to Rafael and Amparo Maldonado, Carmen was one of six children. She moved from Puerto Rico to the Bronx, NY, and later resided in Stamford, CT, before making Norristown, PA, her long-term home. Carmen spent her final four years in Williamstown, NJ. Her warmth and love for life could be felt in everything she did. She was an exceptional cook, and her kitchen was often filled with the aroma of her beloved recipes. A lover of salsa and oldies music, Carmen enjoyed dancing, classic movies, and the companionship of her cats and dogs. She also found joy in walking, trying her luck at slot machines, and spending precious time with her grandchildren, whom she adored.
Carmen was the beloved wife of 53 years to Aristidis Gourgoulis. Devoted mother of the late Carlos Soto (Kerri Soto) and John Gourgoulis (Rebecca) and was blessed with a cherished godmother relationship to Atheena Kouskousoglou (Kostas). Carmen will be remembered as a loving and adoring grandmother to Amira, Jacob, Aristidis "AJ," Scarlett, Marina, Yonnie, Thanasi, and Anastasia. She is also survived by two of her siblings and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing on Friday, November 1st from 1:00-2:00 PM at the Farnelli Funeral Home, 504 N. Main Street, Williamstown, where a funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM.
