Edward R.
Hainsworth
April 6, 1942 – November 15, 2025
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Edward Richard Hainsworth, age 83, of Williamstown, NJ, who departed this life on November 15, 2025. Known by all as a man of unwavering integrity, deep loyalty, and incomparable dedication, Ed's life was a testament to service—service to his family, his community, and his state. To those who knew him, he truly was the greatest man who ever lived .
Born on April 6, 1942, Ed was raised in Camden, NJ, where he learned early the value of hard work, perseverance, and honor. These values guided every chapter of his life. In 1963, he began a distinguished career with the New Jersey State Police, rising through the ranks to retire as a Lieutenant. His leadership, fairness, and calm command left an indelible mark on those he served alongside.
Ed's commitment to public service extended far beyond his law enforcement career. After retiring, he continued giving back to Monroe Township, where he served as Mayor (1991–1992), Public Safety Director, and a dedicated member of the Board of Elections. He also proudly served as President of the Monroe Township Republican Club, working tirelessly to support and uplift his community. His presence in Williamstown was one of strength, stability, and compassion.
At the center of Ed's world was his family. For 62 beautiful years, he was the beloved husband of Kathryn (Maronski), his partner in every sense of the word. Together, they built a family rooted in love, faith, and unbreakable connection.
He was the devoted father of Edward Hainsworth (Lisa) and Theresa Hainsworth, and the proud and loving "Pop" to his grandchildren: Victoria Manfredi (Joseph), Robyn Berardi (AJ), Danielle Smith (Tyler), Jeffery Hainsworth (Megan), and Abby Hainsworth (Colin). His legacy continues through his cherished great-grandchildren, who brought him endless joy: Ellianna and Joey Manfredi, Ronnie and Morgan Berardi, Grayson and Everett Smith, and soon-to-arrive Quinn Smith.
Ed was also the beloved brother of his late siblings, Fredrick and Raymond Hainsworth, with whom he shared lifelong bonds and treasured memories.
To know Ed was to know strength, humility, humor, and heart. He led by example, lived with purpose, and loved without hesitation. His life touched countless others, and his influence will continue to guide his family and community for generations.
He leaves behind a legacy of service, honor, and deep devotion—one that will be remembered always and missed beyond measure.
May he rest in eternal peace .
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Ed's memory to an Alzheimer's or dementia charity of your choice, honoring the strength, resilience, and love he showed throughout his journey. Your generosity and prayers are sincerely appreciated. And don't forget, always choose kindness.
