He was a compassionate and HEROIC man. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, brother, relative and friend.  Edward graduated from Glassboro high school and joined the United States Marine Corp soon after, which he served for 30 years.

Master Sgt. Mitchell was a proud US Marine Veteran of WWII. He served as the Cuban Crisis Campaign Manager in Vietnam. After retirement from his service to his country, Eddie became a passionate golfer, track consultant, baseball coach, and baseball umpire. He also prided himself on supporting his 4 children and 10 grandchildren as they pursued their own dreams.  From the children and grandchildren you can often hear them saying,  "Thank you, Pop Pop."  Thanks for coming to my baseball games, my football games, my track meets.  But more importantly, thanks for supporting us through our educational endeavors.  We appreciate you, Pop Pop. Thanks for mentoring us into our adulthood.  We will miss you! We will see each other again!
