Obituary

Ethan Michael Woodward, 16, of Williamstown, NJ, unexpectedly went home to be with our Lord on Tuesday, January 4, 2022.

Born on June 15, 2005, Ethan was the son of Michael and Alexa Woodward and was the first of their 2 boys. He spent his elementary and middle school years growing up in Williamstown, NJ. Ethan was a Junior at the Gloucester County Institute of Technology where he excelled in the Construction Technology Electrical Program. He prided himself on his natural talent and skill, an obvious gift from his Dad. Ethan's dream was to obtain his Master Electrician's License and work alongside his father in their family business.

Ethan had a pure and contagious love for life and the kindest heart of any child you could meet. He loved his family more than anything in this world. Ethan grew up with his cousins, who were more like siblings, there was no line that could separate the two. He made friends easily and was generous with his attention and time.  Ethan had an energy that was not easily forgotten, with even just one encounter, you would remember him for life.

Ethan had a work ethic and determination that was unparalleled. He was always in motion. At any given moment, he could be found mowing lawns, cleaning the garage, fixing a friend's car or truck, clearing snow, climbing the roof to trim a tree for his mother or ripping his dirt bike all over the yard. He certainly was "all boy!"

His most cherished past-time was spending time in the garage with some of those who meant the most to him: his Dad, brother, Pop, uncles, cousins and friends. It didn't matter the job: building a car or truck, oil changes, working on dirt bikes or bicycles, time spent in the garage was time well spent.

Ethan was a natural thrill-seeker and growing into a true man's man. He loved to hunt, fish and race. Racing was an inevitable and rewarding part of Ethan's life. He was raised at the racetrack, where he enjoyed racing his Junior Dragster and being his Dad's biggest drag-racing fan. True to Ethan's nature, it never mattered who or what needed help, he would be found lending a hand to fix, prep and support and be of use. He was embraced and loved by an entire community of racers across the country.

Ethan is survived by his loving parents, Michael and Alexa Woodward (nee Ohrenich) and his brother Joseph. He was the adored grandson of Joanne Ohrenich and the late Charles Ohrenich Jr., Richard Nitz, Cynthia Pearce (the late Douglas). Cherished great-grandson of Alvin Miller (Diana), and Anna Ohrenich (the late Charles Ohrenich Sr). Precious nephew to Nikole Zallie (George), Thaddeus Ohrenich Sr (Melissa), Charles Ohrenich III, the late Jamie Romano, Jason Nitz (Bianca), Katie Slater, and Chad Slater. Treasured cousin of T.J., Isabella, Dylan, Aidan, Ava, Avery, Hayden, Julia, Jayson, Noel, Charles and Torie.

Ethan will be dearly missed by family and friends near and far.  There are some who bring a light so great to the world, that even after they are gone, the light remains.  That was Ethan.

Family and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Friday, January 14th from 6:00 - 9:00 pm and Saturday from 9:00 - 10:30 am at the Farnelli Funeral Home, 504 No. Main Street, Williamstown, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 am at St. Charles Borromeo RC Church, Washington Township, NJ. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, Franklin, NJ.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Michael Woodward to be put into trust for Ethan's brother Joey and mailed c/o the funeral home.
