April 18, 1927 – August 7, 2021
George N. Alexander, age 94, of Williamstown, NJ, suddenly passed away on August 7, 2021. He was born April 18, 1927 in Philadelphia, the son of the late Anthony, Sr. and Catherine (nee Strasser) Alexander. He is also predeceased by his loving wife of 57 years, Cass, his son, George, Jr., and his brothers Anthony, Jr., John, Ernest, Joseph, and Rudy.
Sadly, he leaves behind his children, Kathy Duffy (Matthew), Karen Slade (James, Jr.), grandchildren, Tara Gabbianelli (Mike, Jr.), Andrea Duffy, James Slade, III (Ashley), Matthew Duffy, great grandchildren, Haley, Michael, Stella, and Taylor, devoted niece and nephew, Michele Grant (Bob), and his siblings Robert Alexander and Catherine Zacheiss.
He was an avid reader and had monthly subscriptions to the National Geographic and Smithsonian magazines. He had a deep interest and appreciation for history and science and family vacations always included trips to museums and historical sites. He took great pleasure in watching his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews grow. He was known and admired for the meticulously hand-crafted wooden toys that he made and gave to the children who attended the annual Christmas Eve parties organized and lovingly prepared by his wife, Cass.
He enjoyed a long retirement after a 30-year career at General Electric Company, Philadelphia and Valley Forge, PA. He traveled extensively with his wife and brother and sister-in-law, Howard and Joan Max. He participated and remained engaged in family life and current events. His strong, calm, deep presence will be greatly missed.
Relatives and friends are invited to his graveside service on Tuesday, August 24 th at 11:00 AM at St. Mary Cemetery, Walnut Street, Williamstown.
