Obituary

Glenn Washington was born on December 9, 1964, in Passaic, NJ, to the late Doris (Holmes) Washington and Roosevelt Johnson Sr. He was the youngest son of thirteen. Glenn entered his eternal rest on April 18, 2026, after his six-year battle with dementia.

Glenn grew up in Passaic, NJ. He graduated from Passaic High School in 1982 and went on to attend Ramapo College. He had a love for baseball. During his elementary school years, he played on Passaic Sport Center baseball team and went on to play baseball throughout his high school and college years. In 1985, Glenn was drafted by the California Angels in the 23rd round of the 1985 MLB Draft from Ramapo College (Mahwah, NJ). He went on to play several seasons of professional baseball in the Angels' minor league.

After his baseball career, his dream was to learn the Chinese language and move to China to live his life there. He pursued his dream, learned the language and moved to China in the late 1990s. He pursued a career in China teaching English as a second language.

In 2003 in Canton, China is where he met his wife Junhua Deng, who he affectionately gave her the name Lovette. They enjoyed life together as best friends and soulmates and married in 2010. They were members of and served at Abundant Grace International Fellowship in China.

Glenn's caring heart and welcoming smile became the invitation for many friendships. Glenn loved to travel around the world and met many friends along the way. He had a very strong passion for food and would visit many restaurants to try out new dishes. He had a great sense of humor and will be greatly missed.

Glenn was predeceased by his parents, Doris (Holmes) Washington and Roosevelt Johnson Sr., six brothers, A.D. Jr. Holmes, James Holmes, S.T. Washington, Larry Washington, Willie C. Horne, Mark Thomas, one sister Viola Allen, and nephew Theodore (Todd) Washington.

Glenn leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Junhua (Lovette) Washington, three brothers, Johnnie West, Allan Washington (Shelley), Roosevelt Johnson Jr., four sisters, Alberta Agee, Dorothy Perry, Sharon Robinson (Roger), Sande Washington, mother-in-law Lianzhen Liu, father-in-law Qiubei Deng, one brother-in-law, Zhaocheng Deng (Liyi Lu), one sister-in-law, Xihua Deng (Kezhi Liu), and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Saturday, May 2nd from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM at the Farnelli Funeral Home, 504 N. Main Street, Williamstown, where a service will be held at 1:00 PM.  Interment will be held privately.

The Family would like to thank NJ Health Hospice and Palliative Care for their invaluable care and passion.
