Obituary

Helen Theresa Steward, AKA Sr. Theresa Edward, F.M.S.C, TE, Snookie, Apple Pie, age 85, of Glen Mills, PA, passed away on February 25, 2022.

Born and raised in the Germantown section of Philadelphia. She resided in Medford Lakes, Gloucester Twp., and Franklinville, NJ before moving to Glen Mills in 2007.

As a former nun, Sr. Theresa Edward spent 17 years as a Peekskill Franciscan. During that time, she served as a Group mother at St. Joseph's Home and Kennedy Home. In addition, she taught at St. Paul's, St. Rita's, Mater Dolorosa and St. Mary Magdalen in PA and at St. Joseph's in Bogota, NJ.

Helen proudly served as an educator for 44 years, retiring as a Principal from Marlton Middle School in NJ. She was a member of NJEA, ASCD, and NJ Retired Educators. She enjoyed her time spent with the Sierra Club and was active in Native American Indian organizations.

Helen was a great story teller and a good listener. She loved teaching, but mostly enjoyed being "the boss", in charge. She enjoyed spending time with her special friends the McKeon family in Staten Island. Some of her great loves were the Philadelphia Eagles and spending summers at the shore in both Cape May and Ventnor NJ. Helen loved to travel and traveled extensively throughout the United States and even visited Europe. One of Helen's greatest past times was visiting the Casino. She loved to play games whether it was in Atlantic City or on her iPad. She was an extremely generous person and tried to help anyone in need. Helen had an infectious smile and was loved by everyone she met.

Helen is survived by her loving brother Edward "Butch" Steward, loving Sisters in Christ to Dr. Phillis A. Maloney and Marilyn McKeon, many loving nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews and BFF's.

Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation on Wednesday, March 9th, from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M., at St. Mary's Church/Our Lady of Peace Parish, S. Main Street & Carroll Ave., Williamstown, NJ.  Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Inurnment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Cape May, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Franciscans Sisters, 250 South Street, Peekskill, New York 10566.
