Obituary

Herbert M. McGinty, of Mays Landing, NJ, age 83, passed away on January 25, 2025 surrounded by his loving family.

Born and raised in Philadelphia, PA, Herbert and Katherine raised their family in Gibbsboro, NJ, and spent time in NC and VA before settling in Mays Landing.  He worked as a truck driver for James Naye in Philadelphia, PA before retiring.  After retiring as a truck driver, he worked as a supervisor for R.F. Power.

While raising his kids, he was active with the GVAA (Gibbsboro Voorhees Athletic Association), where he volunteered as a baseball coach. Herbert was a volunteer firefighter for several years at the Kresson Fire company in Voorhees, NJ.  He was an avid Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles fan and also enjoyed sudoku puzzles and fly-fishing in his free time.  His most cherished time was that spent with family, especially keeping up with his children and grandchildren's shenanigans.

Beloved husband of 62 years to Katherine McGinty (nee Peters).  Devoted father of Katrina Bialecki (Frank), Herbert McGinty (Carmen), the late Thomas J. McGinty (Frani), Kimberly Barnabei (Robert), and Brian McGinty (Jennifer).  Loving Pop of Steve (Karla), Victoria (Jonathan), Francis, Ryan, Andrew, Haley, Ariel, Julia, and Emma.  Cherished Pop/"P" of Jacob, Capri, and Siena.  He is survived by his brothers Walt McGinty, Mike McGinty, Dennis McGinty, and was predeceased by siblings Bernie McGinty, John McGinty, Theresa Kelley, Patricia Bryer, and Francis McGinty.  He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Friday, January 31st from 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 5021 Harding Highway, Mays Landing, NJ.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 PM.  Inurnment will be held privately at a later date at Holy Cross Cemetery, Mays Landing.
