James R. Brooks, age 86, of Bradenton, FL, formerly of Holiday City in Williamstown, NJ, passed away on February 9, 2025.
He was born on March 25, 1938, in Manhattan, NY. At just 5 years old, Jim met and became close friends with neighbor Loretta T. Barrett. This friendship would blossom and ultimately last a lifetime. Jim married Loretta on November 4, 1961.
Jim was a US Army Veteran of the Vietnam War. Alongside his wife, Jim owned and operated the Travel Network travel agency in Cherry Hill, giving them the opportunity to travel the world. Jim cruised on the QE2 and through the Inside Passage of Alaska; he walked the ancient streets of Ephesus, Turkey; and he toured cities and towns in Italy, Canada, Germany, Finland, Austria, and many Greek Islands. A week-long family gathering at St. George Island, FL, was a yearly tradition.
Beloved husband of the late Loretta T. Brooks (nee Barrett). Devoted father of Tom Brooks (Julie), Steve Brooks (Payal), and the late James Brooks (Barbara). Loving grandfather of Brendan, Garrett, Hailey and Marlie. Dear brother of the late Dolores Keller. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation on Saturday, June 28th from 10:00 - 11:00 AM at the Farnelli Funeral Home, 504 N. Main Street, Williamstown, where a time of sharing will be held at 11:00 AM. Inurnment will follow in the Gloucester County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Williamstown.
