John R. Allmendinger, age 87, of Sewell, NJ, passed away peacefully at home on December 9, 2021 in the presence of his loving wife.

A Philadelphia native, John was not afraid of venturing out and experimenting with different careers. He spent numerous years working in the computer field, owning and operating a local tavern, and even tried his hand at real estate. Wherever John went he made friends easily and was well liked by all who knew him.

In his spare time, he enjoyed getting out onto the golf course and taking significantly more mulligans than the rest of his foursome. A voracious reader, John especially like science fiction books although he would devour any book which came into his general vicinity. This helped him with one of his favorite pastimes, watching Jeopardy, where he would have been a great contestant.

Beloved husband of Lynn D. Allmendinger.  Devoted father to John Allmendinger, Dawn Mazza, Scott Allmendinger, Amy Kertesz and Eric Allmendinger. Uncle to Jessica Hosko and Jacob Hosko. A Grandfather and Great Grandfather to many who loved him very much.

Services are being held privately at the request of the family. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Gloucester County Animal Shelter at 1200 N. Delsea Dr., Clayton, NJ 08312.
