John Joseph Patrick Quigley, age 88, of Fort Myers, FL, passed peacefully on July 22, 2023, in NJ.
He started a family with his beloved wife Dolores (Dee) and was married for 67 years. Devoted father of Laura and Bill Henry, Dolores Caruso, Marie and Danny Sacksteder, Daniel and Barbara Quigley, Maureen and Humberto Coelho, and John and Paula Quigley.
Loving grandfather to Dolores and Tony, Jamie and Scott, George, Kristie and Mark, Daniel and Rachel, Kayla, Samantha and Brian, Sean and Meghan, Christina and Jordan, Michael and Ashley, Marisa and Robert, Antonio and Angela, and Jannah. Loving great grandfather to 17.
John was born to Edward and Annie (McCann) Quigley in Philadelphia, the youngest of five (Daniel, Anna Quigley Dougherty (Charles), Margaret, and Edward (Anna). John started his career at 15 as an apprentice carpenter and retired as Vice President of Operations for BWI. He was a member of the Philadelphia Carpenters Union (Local 1856) for more than 70 years. He was honored to be a Union carpenter. He was most proud of his two sons who achieved many years as Union Carpenters. He taught his children to give back to the community by volunteering and giving financially. He was an active member of Our Lady of Peace Parish in Williamstown. He was the President of several organizations including Greenwood Park Bells Lake Swim Club. John loved spending time with his family and friends, enjoying family gatherings, golfing, fishing, and crabbing on their boats in Delaware. Shortly after retiring John and Dee moved to Fort Myers and enjoyed the quiet life where he devoted himself to caring for his beloved wife Dolores. His other passion in life was building relationships through his love of construction while helping his friends and family.
Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Wednesday, July 26th from 10 – 11:30 AM at the Farnelli Funeral Home, 504 N. Main Street Williamstown, NJ where the funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM. Cremation will be held privately following the services.
