Judy Ann Engler, age 80, of Williamstown, NJ, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2024, at the Veterans Memorial Home in Vineland, NJ. Born in Camden, Judy was a beloved New Jersey native who touched many lives with her warmth and kindness.
Judy's life was marked by cherished moments with her family and friends. She spent her early years in Runnemede, raised her children in Woodbury, and later settled in Williamstown before her final years at the Veterans Home in Vineland. Her life was forever changed when she met Bill, the love of her life, while working at the Penn Queen Diner in Pennsauken. Their love blossomed into a beautiful marriage and brought forth three children whom they adored: Dave Engler (Sherry), Jeff Engler (Fran), and Colleen Croge (Mike). Judy was also blessed with numerous loving grandchildren.
For many years, Judy worked as a waitress at the Kmart Restaurant in Glassboro, NJ, before retiring. In her retirement, she found joy in scrapbooking, particularly creating memories for her grandchildren. She loved moments at the beach, camping adventures, and cherished time spent with loved ones.
In her later years, Judy faced the challenges of Alzheimer's disease with remarkable courage and taught her family invaluable lessons about living in the present, cherishing every moment, and treasuring connections based on love and shared experiences. Before illness dimmed her steps, she could often be found twirling with joy and grace. When she could no longer dance, she would tap her feet or snap her fingers to the music. She found comfort and calmness when rubbing her treasured heart necklace or being wrapped in her photo blanket, surrounding her with faces of those she loved. Despite the disease's progression, glimpses of Judy's true self would shine through—she smiled brightly when loved ones would visit and she continued showing her nurturing spirit as she bathed and sang to her beloved "Baby Colleen".
Along with her family and friends, Judy will be fondly remembered by her caretakers on Old Glory, particularly Juan, who always brought a smile to her face, and Samantha, her favorite Taco Lady. In her final days, Colleen joined them in ensuring Judy peacefully took hold of Bill's hand as they were reunited.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Judy's life on Saturday, August 17th, from 10:00 - 11:30 AM at the Farnelli Funeral Home, 504 N. Main Street, Williamstown, where a funeral service will be held at 11:30 AM. Interment will follow at the Gloucester County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Williamstown.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Veterans Memorial Home. Please make checks payable to NJ VMH Welfare Fund and mail to NJ Veterans Memorial Home, Attn: Life Enrichment, 524 Northwest Blvd., Vineland, NJ 08360.
