Obituary

Loretta T. Brooks (nee Barrett), age 81, of Holiday City in Williamstown, NJ, passed away on May 9, 2021.

She was born on May 21, 1939, in Queens, NY.  At just 5 years old, Loretta met and became close friends with neighbor James "Jim" Brooks.  This friendship would blossom and ultimately last a lifetime.  Loretta married Jim on November 4, 1961.

Loretta worked for many years in both the parochial and public school systems in New Jersey before retiring as the Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent of Schools in Cherry Hill, NJ.

Loretta was an avid reader and passionate about travel.  She and her husband opened a travel agency in their later years, giving them the opportunity to travel the world.  Loretta cruised on the QE2 and through the Inside Passage of Alaska; she walked the ancient streets of Ephesus, Turkey; and she toured cities and towns in Italy, Canada, Germany, Finland, Austria, and many Greek Islands.  A week-long family gathering at St. George Island, FL, was a yearly tradition.

Those of us who knew her well know that Loretta placed family above all else; she made each and every family member feel special, cherished, loved.  She is survived by her husband, Jim; her sons, Jim (Barbara), Tom (Julie, grandsons Brendan and Garrett), and Steve (Payal, granddaughters Hailey and Marlie); and her sister, Eileen (Warren), as well as many nieces, nephews, and their children.

Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Thursday, May 13th from 6:00 - 8:00 PM and on Friday, May 14th from 10:30 – 11:30 AM at the Farnelli Funeral Home, 504 N. Main Street, Williamstown.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 12 Noon at St. Mary's Church/Our Lady of Peace Parish, Williamstown.  Burial will follow in the Gloucester County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Williamstown.

Donations in her memory may be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or by visiting www.stjude.org/donate
