In loving Memory of Madelyn Adele “Sunny” Ferringo

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and counselor.

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Madelyn Adele “Sunny” Ferringo, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and counselor, whose strength, love and generosity touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Sunny was born in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania and raised in Connecticut, a place she held close to her heart throughout her life. Although she later moved to South Jersey, Connecticut always remained a special part of who she was.

Sunny met Salvatore “Sal” Ferringo in 1975, and they were married in 1986, spending 40 years together as husband and wife, making Williamstown, NJ their home for the duration of their 40-year marriage.

Sunny is survived by her beloved husband of 40 years, Sal; her children, Robert “Bob” Louis Bochenko, Jr., and Glenn Bochenko (Meredith Todaro); her grandchildren, Anthony Todaro (Grace), Jazmine Bochenko, Robert “Bobby” Louis Bochenko, III, Cole Bochenko and Aiden Bochenko; her great-granddaughter, Serenity Todaro; her dear sister, Marian Drum, and many nieces and nephews whom she adored.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dale Enders Drum, Sr. and Marian (Whittle) Drum, her sister, Martha “Marty” Cavanna, and her brother, Dale Enders Drum, Jr.

Sunny loved deeply and without reservation. Above all else, she loved her family. She was the heart of her family- the person who made everyone feel welcome, cared for, and loved. She gave selflessly, asked for nothing in return, and had a remarkable ability to make people feel that they mattered.

She was a true animal lover, with a particular love for horses. Her beloved horse, Shaman, brough her tremendous joy, and she delighted in sharing that love with her children and grandchildren. Her love for animals extended beyond her own; for several years, Sunny also volunteered at an animal sanctuary, giving her time and compassion to animals in need. She also loved birds, butterflies, and had a knack for gardening.

Sunny was a talented cook, often spending days preparing enormous holiday feasts so her family could gather around the table together. Those meals were about much more than food- they were about family, tradition, laughter, and making memories. Her home was a place where people felt welcome, and her presence made it feel like home. She would always lend a listening ear and offer the best advice.

Throughout her career as an addiction recovery counselor, Sunny dedicated decades of her life to helping others. She touched countless lives through her compassion, strength, and willingness to help people find their way forward. The impact she made extended beyond her own family, leaving a lasting impression on the many people she helped along the way.

Perhaps Sunny’s greatest legacy is the love she leaves behind. She taught those around her what it meant to be strong, to care deeply, to give generously, and to love fiercely. Her family will carry those lessons with them for the rest of their lives.

She will be deeply missed by her husband, children, grandchildren, great-granddaughter, sister, extended family, friends and the many people whose lives she touched. Though her absence leaves an immeasurable space in all of our hearts, the love she gave us will remain forever.

A visitation will be held from 10:00 - 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 29th at St. Mary’s Church/Our Lady of Peace Parish, S. Main Street & Carroll Ave., Williamstown, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Sunny’s life will be held at 11:00 AM. Burial to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Williamstown.
