Obituary

Blichasz (Blickos), Marie Theresa, age 67, was called Home to be with the Lord on September 28th, 2026 surrounded by her beloved family after bravely fighting a courageous battle with lung cancer for more than 7 years. She was the definition of a true warrior and will forever be our hero. Marie lived a full and exciting life. Ever the world traveler, she visited 5 continents and countless countries around the world. She loved casinos and playing high stakes black jack & poker tournaments which she often won. At home, she loved playing card games and Yahtzee, her coffee with Irish cream to start the day and keeping up on current events. Family was the most important thing in the world to her and she cherished Sunday dinners & holidays spent with her family carrying on the morals, values and traditions her parents instilled in her. She was an amazing cook always making family recipes handed down through the generations. Marie was a woman of many talents who truly was good at everything she did. She ran the Home & School Association throughout her daughter's school years doing countless fundraisers and organizing many events; she ran her father's heating company in Philadelphia for many years; she opened two of her own antique stores on Passyunk Avenue before later transitioning to an online storefront winning herself many awards throughout the years for being an excellent businesswoman and philanthropist, and the list goes on. Marie was a kind and generous person who would help anyone she could that came across her path. She also had a flair for party & event planning and decorating. She always thought outside of the box to make every party or event memorable and each one better than the last. She enjoyed summers in Wildwood, antiquing, estate sales, shopping, dining out, lunches with her son, outings with her daughter, and most importantly, spending time with family who meant the world to her and she to them. Marie and her daughter were two peas in a pod who shared a bond like no other, one not even death can break. She lived in the image of Jesus the best way she knew how and carried her faith with her along her journey in this world. Marie was an amazing mother, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin and friend. We were beyond blessed by the Lord to have her in our lives. The world is by far a better place because she was in it. Her memory will live on in the hearts of the countless people she touched along the way and in the morals, values, faith and traditions she's passed along to her daughter & family. She was truly one of a kind and unforgettable.

Marie was born in South Philadelphia on October 14th, 1958. She is preceded in death by her parents Andrew M., Jr. & Anna M. (Langley) Blickos; brother Thomas J. Blickos, Sr.; brother Andrew F. Blickos; maternal grandparents Joseph, Sr. & Genevieve (Bissell) Langley; paternal grandparents Andrzej, Sr. & Marjana (Perczak) Blichasz; maternal aunt Genevieve (Albert) Bernotas. Marie is survived by her loving daughter, Lisa & her husband Dennis Grahl, who she affectionately referred to as her “son”, rather than son-in-law, and he lovingly called her “Mom” as she's the only real mother he's ever had. Their bond grew very close over the years which they both cherished. She is also survived by her two favorite boys in the world, Jack and Charlie, who stole her heart away. Marie will forever be loved beyond words and missed beyond measure. Fly high with the angels, you've certainly earned your wings. May you be wrapped in the arms of our Lord and may you rest in peace, love & happiness until that glorious day we meet again.
