Obituary

Mary Louise (also known as Molly) Buckingham Yerkes passed away on 10 August 2022, at the age of 95.  She was born in Toledo Ohio, and raised in Southhampton, NY.  She received her BS in Home Economics at Syracuse University, after which she taught 2 years in Madison, NY, before returning to school for a degree in Occupational Therapy at Richmond Professional Institute, in Richmond, VA.  She married Frank A. Yerkes, Sr. in 1953, and moved to Williamstown, NJ, where the couple raised three children. Molly, as she was known to everyone, received the Woman of the Year Award from the Williamstown Rotary Club in 1972, for her efforts as a Girl Scout leader, Den Mother, PTA member, and advocate for school construction. She taught home economics at Glassboro Intermediate School for 20 years for which she was awarded the "Governor's Certificate of Recognition," and was an adjunct faculty member of Atlantic Community College.  She enjoyed traveling, sewing, canning, playing the piano and accordion, and bragging about her family.  She published 151 editions of the "Dun Roamin' News, "a family newspaper. She is survived by her three children, Sandra Yerkes of Rockville, MD; Frank Yerkes of Williamsburg, VA; and William (Bill) Yerkes of Williamstown, NJ; her grandchildren Kimberly Witczak of Fayetteville, NC; Samuel Yerkes of Chesterfield, VA; Randy Yerkes of Richmond, VA; Kaylyn Yerkes of Indianapolis, IN; and Marija Yerkes of Williamsburg, VA; and four wonderful great-grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to Farnelli Funeral Home, 504 N. Main Street, Williamstown, NJ, on Saturday, 27 August, at 2 pm for family greeting, followed by a time of sharing commencing at 3 pm.  Inurnment of ashes will follow at the Gloucester County Veterans Cemetery located at 240 N Tuckahoe Rd, Williamstown, NJ 08094, followed by refreshment at the home of Teresa and Bill Yerkes.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Molly's memory to the Gloucester County Animal Shelter, 1200 N. Delsea Dr, Clayton, NJ 08312 (https://www.gloucestercountynj.gov/160/Animal-Shelter).
