Obituary

Oscar H. Truell Jr., aged 60, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2024. Born on September 29, 1964, to Trina and Oscar H. Truell Sr., Oscar lived a life marked by unwavering faith, dedication to family, and service to others.

A proud graduate of Springfield High School and West Virginia University, Oscar built an impressive 36-year career in retail management, distribution, and operations. His exceptional leadership at companies including Foot Locker, A.C. Moore, and Home Depot earned him numerous accolades for his outstanding management, training abilities, and commitment to customer service. Colleagues knew him as a skilled professional who approached every task with attention and care.

Oscar's greatest joy came from his family. He leaves behind his cherished children: daughter Elisa Truell, and sons Marcus Truell and Dylan Cole. He maintained a special relationship with Carla Truell, mother of Elisa and Marcus, who remained an important part of his life. He is survived by his mother, Trina Truell Potts, and his five sisters: Kristina Truell, Stacey Freeman, Ronnette Neall, Corine Truell and Liane Truell, along with two brothers-in-law, numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, and nephews who will miss him dearly.

A man of profound faith, Oscar dedicated himself to living by biblical principles. His spiritual commitment was evident through his faithful tithing and his devoted service to the Star of Hope Church's security ministry. This foundation of faith guided his interactions with others and shaped his character as a generous, reliable friend and family member.

Those who knew Oscar will remember his passion for life's simple pleasures. A devoted Pittsburgh Steelers fan, he could often be found cheering on the Black and Yellow every game they played. Oscar enjoyed traveling, being a member of a fantasy football league, and spending quality time with family and friends. His loved ones will fondly recall his passion for rearranging furniture and the special bond he shared with Pumpkin and Buddy.

Oscar's legacy lives on through the countless lives he touched with his kindness, wisdom, and steadfast presence. He will be remembered as someone who could always be counted on to show up for others, whether in times of celebration or need.

The family welcomes prayers and kind thoughts during this difficult time.

Relatives and friends are invited to his memorial service on Saturday, January 11th at 11:00 AM at the Star of Hope Baptist Church, 7137 Hagerman St., Philadelphia, PA 19135
