Obituary

Patricia A. Shute (nee McCormick), of Williamstown, NJ, formerly of Linwood, NJ and Myrtle Beach, SC, passed away peacefully at home on August 16, 2025. She was 92.

Growing up in Northfield, N.J., Pat graduated from Pleasantville (NJ) High School in 1952. She held various positions including delivering newspapers and working in Guest Relations at Caesars Atlantic City Hotel and Casino where she coordinated services for both the public and several celebrities.

But mother and homemaker was the job she loved most, often saying raising her seven children was her most rewarding position.

Pat loved the beach, boating and bowling and spent her free time with various crafts and ceramics. She was never afraid to accept a challenge, learning to snow ski in her 50s and enjoying the sport often on many ski trips with family and friends.

But it was family and friends who brought her the greatest joy. No gathering was too large or small, whether it was hosting the whole gang for holiday festivities or just a few for cards and games. She enjoyed bingo, going to the movies and on Sundays in the fall you'd find her cheering on her Philadelphia Eagles.

She lived for her desserts, sweets and Crab Imperial from the Crab Trap.

Pat delighted in her grandchildren and great grandchildren as much, if not more, than she delighted in raising her own children. They always brought huge smiles to her face and in her final days continued to be her pride and joy.

She will be remembered for her smile, laugh, wise cracks, outpouring of love and her zest for life. Her children also will remember her saying: "Make sure you wash, dry and put away!"

She was our safe place, our rock and the glue that held the family together.

Pat's joyful spirit was evident to all who knew her. Keep her spirit alive and tell your loved ones you love them, "a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck."

She was the ultimate testament to a life well lived.  And loved us more!
