Obituary

Philomena J. Knapp (nee Bracarello), age 92, of Williamstown, NJ., passed away on July 20th, 2026.

Family was truly everything to Philomena. There was no place she would rather be than being surrounded by all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She never missed an opportunity to cheer from the sidelines of all of their sporting events. She was their biggest fan. The holidays were especially meaningful. Her kitchen was always filled with the aroma of cookies baking. She was famous for her Italian cookies and pasta sauce that everyone looked forward to. She had a gift for making everyone feel welcome, loved and at home.

Philomena’s larger-than-life personality was impossible to forget. She had a wonderful sense of humor, could make anyone laugh, and brought energy and joy wherever she went. She worried about everyone, always putting the needs of others before her own. She had the biggest heart and would do anything to help those she cared about. Her warmth, generosity, and thoughtfulness touched so many lives, and she had a special way of making every person who walked through her door feel like family. She taught by example the values of hard work, patience, and family, and her strength and grace were an inspiration to all who knew her.

Philomena was a passionate Philadelphia sports fan. She proudly cheered on the Eagles and Phillies through every season, celebrating the wins and sticking by them through the losses. Whether it was football in the fall or baseball in the summer, you could always count on her to have the game on. She was a devoted fan who never missed a chance to root for her teams. An avid reader, Philomena could often be found with a good book in hand. She cherished the time spent playing card games with her sisters. Whenever the opportunity arose, she loved packing up the car and heading to the beaches of Wildwood.

She will be deeply missed by all who were lucky enough to know her.

Beloved wife of the late Frank W. Knapp, Sr. Devoted mother of Sharon Foster (Mike), Frank W. Knapp, Jr. (Dagmar) and John Knapp (Tina Ly). Dear sister of Arlene Johnson, Mary Wiemer and Gerri Gatti. Loving grandmother of 5 and great-grandmother of 6.

Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation on Thursday, July 23, 2026, from 3:00 – 4:00 PM, at the Farnelli Funeral Home, 504 N. Main Street, Williamstown, NJ, 08094. A Memorial Service will begin at 4:00 PM. Interment will take place privately.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Philomena’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
