Phyllis A. Keaton (nee Brooks), age 85 of Williamstown, NJ passed away quickly, quietly and peacefully on April 12, 2024, at home with her daughter by her side. She was predeceased by her husband of 35 years, William L. Keaton in 2010.

Loving mother of Elaine Brooks and grandmother to cherished grandson Jayson Brooks of Chicago, IL. Phyllis is the daughter of the late James Brooks and Florence Clark. Dear sister of Thelma Rogers, Eunice Rogers, Elaine Carmichael, Easter Rogers, Rose (Frank) Money, Raymond Robinson and Elvina (John) Schwartz. Phyllis was predeceased by her brothers James Brooks, Jr., Norris S. Brooks, Ronald Rogers and sisters Elvira Wilson, Ruth Rogers and Geraldine Rogers. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She also leaves two special, longtime friends, Willy Gray and Philly Gary.

Phyllis was always a joy to be around. All were welcomed into her circle. She was the matriarch, the person everyone migrated to for advice, a warm embrace or a safe space. She loved to make family and friends laugh with her many sayings or expressions. Before her stroke, she loved get-to-gathers, going to the Pheiffer Senior Center, attending worship service at St. Matthews Baptist Church, attending plays, music and dancing, and watching her favorite show Dateline.

Even in her illness, Phyllis never complained or was bitter. She was gracious and appreciative. She constantly expressed gratitude because she said it could always be worse and she was blessed to be able to do what she still could do even with her limited mobility. She held on to her sense of humor right down to her last day.

To say Phyllis will be missed would be an understatement. However, believing she has transitioned to a better place brings us comfort.  Cremation, under the direction of Farnelli Funeral Home, to be private per Phyllis' request.
