Obituary

Richard G. Dantinne Sr. of Ocean City, NJ passed peacefully on June 8, 2025.

Rich was born in Salem, NJ on May 1, 1946 to David A. Dantinne Sr. and Anne Chrin Dantinne.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 59 years Linda Dantinne (nee Madi), his son Richard G. Dantinne Jr. and daughter-in-law Lisa, (nee Ipri) as well as his daughter Tamara Zimmerman, and four grandchildren: Nicholas Zimmerman, Jaclyn Dantinne, Elizabeth Zimmerman, and John Dantinne.

Rich spent his early years in Salem, NJ before moving to Cecil, NJ in Monroe Twp. in 1954.  Rich played football and graduated from Williamstown High School in 1964 and earned his Bachelor's Degree in Education from Glassboro State College in 1969.  He taught elementary school in the Franklin Twp. School District for 33 years where he was honored as "Teacher of the Year" before retiring in 2001.  Rich retired to Ocean City with the love of his life whom he fondly called "Babes".  There, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, sporting clays and spending time with his grandchildren on the beach, boardwalk and annual family vacations.

He was a talented musician having played banjo with Broomall, Garden State, and Gloucester City String Bands. Rich also played electric guitar.  His first electric guitar was purchased new in 1961/62 for a few hundred dollars - never knowing at the time that the Gibson Flying V would become one of the most coveted by guitar collectors.  Over the years he bought and sold a variety of classic/antique cars as well as new pickup trucks which he purchased bi-annually throughout his retirement.

Rich was a member of the Ocean City Fishing Club and the Mother of God Orthodox Church in Mays Landing.  At the church he volunteered as the Choir Director where he also sang bass.  In addition, he donated his time as the groundskeeper/landscaper for the church for many years.

Rich will be remembered most as a "family man" – a devoted husband, father and grandfather valuing time with his family as a precious gift from God.

Friends and family are welcome to visit on Saturday, June 14th from 10am to 12 noon at the Farnelli Funeral Home (504 N. Main St., Williamstown, NJ.)  A brief funeral service following the visitation at Farnelli Funeral Home will be officiated by Father Damian Dantinne.

Donations may be made to the Orthodox Church of the Mother of God 115 Hudson St., Mays Landing, NJ 08330, in lieu of flowers.
