Obituary

It is surreal to share the passing of a legendary woman, Susan Caryn Doline.  She passed peacefully on January 28, 2025, surrounded by her family.  Susan was born on 12/6/51 to Morven and Rose Doline, residing in Northeast Philadelphia.  She graduated from Washington High School in 1969, and Delaware Valley Academy of Medical and Dental Assistants in 1970. Upon leaving the city to settle in Sicklerville, NJ, she used her love of the piano to become a music and recreation therapist at Ancora Psychiatric Hospital for 34 years, retiring in 2016.

Susan was a devoted mother to Betsy (Jay) Turgeon, Michael (Kearstie) Simmons, and Curtis (Davida) Thomas. Her greatest happiness was her grandchildren: Gabrielle, Grant, Ginny, Curtis and David.  She is survived by her dedicated sister, Robin Ungaro, whom she loved dearly.

Susan had a unique gift. She had an uncanny way of making everyone feel valued. If you were one of the lucky ones she collected into her family, she loved you fiercely and out loud. You knew exactly how she felt about you. She was boisterous, hilarious and unapologetically opinionated. Family and those she considered family were her most prized possessions in life.

While we will miss her enormously, we are grateful that our beloved Susan is now at peace and free from pain. To honor her wishes, a celebration of her life will commence in Spring, date forthcoming. If interested, donations can be made to the American Heart Association or Cedar Run Animal Refuge.
