Obituary

Mrs. Thelma Moultrie was born on April 18, 1924 in Latta, South Carolina to the late William and Minnie Bethea.  She departed this life on Sunday, June 20, 2021 at her home in Williamstown, New Jersey.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Isiah Moultrie, five sisters - Mildred Sampson (Solomon), Hattie Bethea (Samuel), Eva Dandridge (Robert), Jessie Johnson (JB), Jannie Allen (John); four brothers - Arthur Bethea, John C. Bethea Sr. (Beatrice), William Bethea (Victoria), Otis Bethea (Emma), Freddie Bethea (Corine).

Thelma was the last of her siblings to leave the farm in the "Skillet" of South Carolina and moved to New York City with her sister Jessie.  She later met and married Isaiah Moultrie and this union was blessed with two children Willie Mae and Patricia.  Her niece, Doris Belin was like a daughter to them both.

Thelma was a full-time caregiver for individuals with special needs for many years and upon retirement would do respite for family and friends.

In 1989 Thelma moved from Long Island, New York to Williamstown, New Jersey with her husband and sister Jessie, who she refused to leave New York without.  Thelma loved her family and would always prepare a meal for you when you came to visit.   When she was no longer able to cook, her offer was to order you something.

She was blessed to live on this earth for 97 years to share wisdom, knowledge and love to all who were honored to be in her presence.  Being a devote Jehovah Witness, she shared her religious beliefs through scripture and Bible stories.

Her legacy will leave us with fond memories and stories filled with laughter and joy.

She leaves to cherish her memories two daughters, Willie Mae Montgomery (Lee), Patricia Woodbury (James), 5 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, 1 sister-in-law Corine Bethea, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends who will all miss her dearly.

Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Saturday, July 3rd from 3:00- 4:00 PM at the Farnelli Funeral Home, 504 N. Main Street, Williamstown, NJ.  A memorial talk will be held place at 4 PM. Cremation will be held privately following services.
