Walter David
Hollingsworth
November 29, 1948 – January 15, 2026
Walter David Hollingsworth, age 77, of Burlington, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2026. Born in Mann, West Virginia, Walter built a life rooted in family, hard work, and simple joys. He spent many years in Collings Lakes and Galloway before settling in Burlington, where he made his home.
Walter proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, a chapter of his life that reflected his strength, loyalty, and sense of duty. He later worked for Local #172 in Hammonton, dedicating many years before retiring.
In his younger years, Walter's outgoing spirit shone through his love of singing karaoke and spending evenings bowling with friends. He found great joy in country western music, was a devoted Ford automobile enthusiast, and rarely missed a fishing trip. A lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan, Walter cheered faithfully through every season — win or lose.
Above all, Walter was known for his generous nature and big heart. He also had a playful side and a mischievous streak, often reminding those around him that life was meant to be enjoyed — and that he might just bend the rules now and then with a grin. A bit of a rascal in the best way, he kept family and friends laughing and on their toes.
He was a devoted father to Robert Bailey (Tina) and Amber Schneider (Jason), and a proud and loving grandfather to Noah, Nathaniel, Elizabeth, and Christopher. His heart swelled even more as a cherished great-grandfather to Finigan. He was a beloved brother to Carol (Bob), Judy, Charles, Sonny (Terri), Jackie (the late Ada), and Chery (Wayne), and was preceded in death by his siblings Patricia, Roger, and John.
Walter will be remembered for his kindness, humor, love of music and family, and the quiet strength with which he lived his life. Private services will be held in accordance with the family's wishes.
