William R. Eckert Sr., lovingly known as Bill, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2026, at the age of 88.

Born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Bill built a life centered on family, hard work, and the outdoors. In his final few years, he made his home in Atco, New Jersey, where he remained close to those he loved.

Bill proudly served his country in the United States Army for six years, transcribing Morse code, where he rose to the rank of Sergeant, before beginning a career in the printing industry. He dedicated more than 30 years to his work as a printer, earning the respect of his coworkers through his commitment, reliability, and strong work ethic.

Above all else, Bill was devoted to his family. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Barbara, in 2024. Their years together were filled with love, laughter, and a deep commitment to their family.

Bill is survived by his children: Barbara (Mike), Kelli (Andy), Billy (Nicole), and Eddie (Shana). He was a proud and loving grandfather to Amber (Jim), Alicia (Mark), Jake, Jeff, Matt (Jordyn), Amanda, Shawn (Jordan), Connor (Haley), Kayla, Rachel, Russell, Eddie (Andy), and Leah. He was also blessed with seven great-grandchildren: Brayden, Owen, Everett, Kinsley, Carson, Chloe, and Audrina.

Outside of work, Bill found his greatest happiness in the outdoors. He especially cherished time spent hunting at his cabin with the Okome Bowhunters, creating lasting friendships and countless memories in the woods. Whether sharing stories around camp, enjoying nature, or passing along his knowledge to others, those moments reflected the simple pleasures that meant the most to him.

Bill will be remembered for his quiet strength, unwavering dedication to his family, and the values of honesty, loyalty, and hard work that he lived every day. His legacy lives on through the children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends whose lives he touched.

Though he will be deeply missed, Bill's love, wisdom, and example will remain in the hearts of all who knew him. May he rest in eternal peace, reunited with Barbara.

Family and friends are invited to Bill’s Life Celebration on Wednesday, July 29th from 9:30 – 11AM at the John F. Givnish Funeral Home, 10975 Academy Rd., Philadelphia, PA 19154. A funeral service will follow at 11 A. Interment services will be held at Resurrection Cemetery, Bensalem, PA.
