William J. Thompson, age 82, of Williamstown, NJ, passed away on July 11, 2025 with his family by his side.  Born in Camden, NJ, he lived in Bellmawr Park, NJ, Washington Twp., NJ and Williamstown, NJ for over 50 years before moving to Anderson, SC, in 2021.

Bill was a graduate of Glassboro High School, Class of 1960 and a graduate of Gloucester County Community College, Class of 1976. He was a US Army veteran, serving in Germany. Bill was a police officer with the Monroe Twp. Police Department, retiring with the rank of Lieutenant with 27 years of service. He was a charter member of the Monroe Twp. FOP Lodge #125, serving as secretary from 1986 – 1997, served on the Gloucester County Police Awards Committee in 2000 and was a member of the NJ Police Traffic Officers Association. He was a member of the American Legion Post #252, serving as a trustee for several years. Bill coached Monroe Twp. Midget Basketball from 1989 – 1991. After retirement, Bill and Nancy spent many years at their home in Cape May.  He enjoyed boating, water skiing, traveling with his wife and spending time with his family.

Beloved wife of 60 years to Nancy Thompson (nee Zoog). Devoted father of Susan Farnelli and Amy Gallagher (Kenny). Loving grandfather of Don Farnelli, Jr. and Joe Farnelli. Dear brother of the late John Thompson (Rosalyn) and the late Kathy Rauh. Special cousin Greg Thompson. Loving son of the late Wilbert Thompson and the late Marie Thompson Kleber.

Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation on Monday, July 21st from 9:30 – 11:00 am at the Farnelli Funeral Home, 504 N. Main Street, Williamstown, where a service will be held at 11:00 am. Inurnment with military honors will follow in the Gloucester County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Williamstown.
